Ideal, Darrel and Carol getting ready to have their picture taken for an article for the Oregonian Newspaper story.

OPPPPPS! aka Isla Marada, belongs to Karin Hunt of Shady Springs Farm in Portland. The 'unplanned' filly result of a two year old Inbegriff colt getting together with one Karin's two year old mares. When Opppps was presented to Oldenburg Breeder's Society for a birth certificate, the inspector exclaimed, "She is the best mover presented here today." Now, let's see. This makes Inbegriff a grandpa and Ideal a great, grand pa.

Sensational Arab Filly

This is InSync, a filly by Ideal out of an Arab mare, AHA Korronation bred and owned by Lynn McKean of Auburn, California at her ISR/Oldenburg inspection in 2000

Hey! Who's that good looking guy reflected in the water? It's Insider Trading owned by Dawn Huges of Fairbanks, Alaska.

We call this one ... Lap Time ... Nap Time

This is Robin Littlefied and the 2001 foal, I Count who was born March
10, 2001. Robin lives in Eastsound, Washington. This is a daily ritual. Robin
goes out to the pasture when the foal is sleeping. He lifts his head
and she sits down and he puts his head in her lap!

Dylan at age nine months. Dylan is an Ideal colt out of a TB mare named Hollywood Honey bred and owned by Lisa Howell of Venice, Florida.

Unfortunately, Lisa was unable to get Dylan to a mare and foal evaluation, cause they were too far away.. We have a hunch this colt  would have scored high.

Is this hand stenciled  USDF Logo on Louie's rear a Good Luck Charm? Maybe .... Is it Performance Art? Definitely!

It is the draft cross in Illusion that requires Val Zeek, his rider, tokeep him clipped even in September. Valworks at the Ultimate Piaffe inLake Oswego, Oregon, where she trains with Illusions owner, Michelle Ives-Purdy. One of Val's duties is to keep the school horses clipped and she enjoys tapping into her natural talent by creating artwork on the haunches of her various charges. She only had one season showing dressage
before she took over the riding of the 16 h adorable grey gelding. Illusion is by the Oldenburg stallion, Ideal and is out of a 15h Belgian draft mare. Last year Val and Illusion qualified for their first ABIC/USDF Region 6 championships sporting a lovely ribbon clipped into"Louies" rear end. After having a wonderfully successful regular season, Val began preparing Illusion for the 2000 Regional Championships. Her trainer. Michelle Ives-Purdy suggested that Val should clip in the USDF logo but Val initially laughed it off saying it would be way too hard. But in the true go get'em spirit of the determined  Zeek family of Molalla, Oregon, Val became determined to do the logo after all.

Believe it or not, the logo is all done free hand with tiny thumb sized clippers. Most people thought it was very clever and many asked where she got the stencil or if it had been painted on. Having the USDF logo clipped into Illusions rump helped cut the tension at the ultra competitive competition and Val and Illusion had their most successful competition of the season and won every class entered including the 2000 ABIC/USDF Region 6 Training Level Open Championship, the 2000 ABIC/USDF First Level Open Championship and the 2000 Northwest Dressage Championship First Level Open. Their scores ranges from 69% to 77%. Unfortunately, due to his dam's pedigree, Illusion missed out winning the Oldenburg High Pont Trophy but Val and Michelle were pleased as Illusion was not just the highest scoring Oldenburg, but he was the highest scoring horse in the entire competition.
