INCI IS FLORIDA STATE CHAMPION
IDEAL OFFSPRING SHINE AT SOUTHEASTERN FLORIDA CHAMPIONSHIPS AND THE
COSEQUIN/USDF BREEDERS CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ON NOV. 18 & 19
Carey Zukaitis of Archer, Florida, entered her Premium Oldenburg filly,
Inci, by Ideal out of her Trakehner/Holsteiner mare Ashley by Hurrikhan in the Southeastern USDF Florida Breed Championships. Much to Carey's delight, Inci
was Champion of her 2000 Weanling filly class with a score of 80.6 and then secured
herself a spot in the next days Cosequin/USDF Breeders Championship series by earning the Reserve
Young Horse Champion title in the USDF
Qualifier. This is quite an accomplishment for a weanling to do so well up against yearling, two year olds and 3 year olds.
Later that day Inci teamed up with Pat Sullivan's Champion Ideal yearling filly Iashi (she won the filly class at the 1999 show and
qualified for the 2000 championship series as well) to represent their
sire in the Get of Sire class. The exquisite fillies drew favorable comments from the judges and from the gathering of spectators as well.
They tied for First Place with the Dutch Stallion Lodestar. Although the
judges broke the tie in favor of the older offspring from the Dutch stallion, Ideal was very well represented.
Oh yes, one more win. Inci was the highest scoring Oldenburg
against ALL horses of ALL ages at the show!
Carey was thrilled with Inci's placing and who wouldn't have been proud to have a home bred weanling filly in the company of the finest
pedigrees of Europe and North America. On Sunday, November 19, the
Cosequin/USDF/ DSHB Southeast USA Series Final, Inci placed 3rd in the Young
Horse Championship.
A healthy congratulations to Carey Zukaitis and a heads up to buyers out there looking for a top quality
foal......this one is for sale. For sales page, click

USDF BREEDER'S SHOWCASE IN CONYERS, GEORGIA
.
Ilexa,
a 2 year old filly by Ideal out of Court Rose, a Thoroughbred mare, just
barely made it to the USDF Breeder's Showcase in Conyers, Georgia.
Breeder/owner Susen Shields had to "steal' her barn owner's truck after
her truck died and race to the 96 Olympic venue. Susen unloaded
Lexi and threw on her bridle while her husband, Don, ran for the bridle
number. At the in gate, Susen was informed that her 1/2 hour had been
given away but the agreeable Judge Janet Brown decided to judge Lexi
anyway. Brown had witnessed the frenzy in the parking lot and was very
impressed by how calm Lexi was through the ordeal. Brown placed Lexi
second with a 71%. Shields was thrilled.
The next class, the Oldenburg Breed Class, was judged by Col. Axel Steiner, and with Lexi warmed up, she won the class with a 75%!
Congratulations to Susen and her husband, Don.

INDEPENDENCE GROWS UP!
POOR 'LIL' ORPHAN WINS IN HIS FIRST OUTING!

The Ultimate Piaffe & ISR/Oldenburg judges agreed ... Independence would never be as big as his stable mates born the same season
'the poor little
orphan' would never be much of a horse... Indie proved them wrong.
Independence was only a few hours old when his dam, Bel Kalai, passed away. We had exchanged a breeding to Ideal with her owner and in
return, we would take the second foal out of Bel Kalai. The owner was upset and felt she couldn't take care of the little orphan colt so
Carol, Darrel and Michelle beded their Ford van in straw and brought the tiny colt home.
After sharing the responsibility of bottle feeding and raising Independence to be as much like a horse as possible, it was clear that
we could never part with the dark grey colt.
Darrel was in charge of exercising the little orphan and he and Independence would "run" with the herd. We laughed our heads of when
Darrel (under Michelle's direction) would give a threatening squeal and hike up a "hind leg." to back off the other mares when they got too close to his foal. Even our black and white Great Dane, Sigma, took on
rearing duties spending 24 hours a day with her "puppy" leaving the stall only to relieve herself. We even fed the dog in the foaling stall. Remarkably,
Signa, who at that time wasn't fixed, actually
lactated and although there wasn't any nutritional value, Independence would greedily nurse on Sigma.
Independence thrived on goat's milk and our company and although his TB dam was only a little over 15 h, Independence stands just under 17 h and
has grown into a handsome, round creature. But it isn't his dark grey coat, adorable antics with his tongue or his great size and stature that
has made Independence a barn favorite, he is perhaps the best mover at our facility.
Like the cobbler whose children go without shoes, we have been busy with our clients and horses so Indy hasn't had the exposure he deserves but
he did go to his first schooling show in October where he won his Training Level Test class with his trainer and "mom", Darrel Purdy. Debbie Evans, FEI rider and
ABIC/USDF Champion several times over, gave
Indy a 68% with especially favorable comments on his brilliant canter.
Look for Darrel and Indy at recognized shows in 2001. Despite the fact that Indy is green in the show ring, his frame, engagement and training
are doing well so he'll probably compete at First Level.
People keep asking ... "Is Indie for sale?" The answer is ...
"No Way!"
