3/22/2000 Congratulations to Julie Wright of College Station, Texas for the first reported birth of an IDEAL baby for  the new millennium! It's a Filly Julie has named Indian Summer (above) born on the second day of Spring 3/22/2000 at 9:00 in the morning. Take a look at the strong shoulder and great bone. Lisa says she is having trouble getting work done around the barn cause she just wants to look at him all the time.

4/19/2000 About a half hour after Dylan showed up at 10:00pm and about as far away as you could get from Venice ... up in Lynnwood, Washington, Kristen Nicholls reports that her TB mare Just Childs Play by Sea of Grass delivered a beautiful filly. Just Childs Play was previously owned by Shelia Hardy.

By the way, Just Childs Play has had three Premium Foals by IDEAL. She is shown here (right) with her one day old foal for 2000.

Marjorie says he's dark bay with a silvery look on the legs. Which, according to our experience, is an indication he could very well stay bay.

5/7/2000 The first foal of the year at the Ultimate Piaffe is a filly named Ilissa who has a blaze which mirrors her mom's.  The mare is Freisa and she had several NWSHA Champions out of a wide variety of stallions before we purchased her for our program. Ilissa was named for the youngest Ives daughter, Melissa who acts as social director for Ultimate Piaffe events including the After The Evaluation Client's Receptions when she is not working as Media Buyer for Oregon for COKE™ . Ilissa was been purchased by Suzanne Wiora of Tigard, Oregon. UP DATE in July 2001 Ilissa came back on the markert.

5/9/2000 A filly for Deborah Borra out of Fiora a Swedish Mare by Karneval (Trak) out of Fjäril by Tiger. Deborah of Centerport, New York, reports this is a very big foal which the mare decided to foal standing up with Deborah trying to play catcher. Both owner and mare hit the stall floor with the foal in Deb's lap. Actually, the standing delivery resulted from the  filly was presenting incorrectly which required Deborah having to turn the foal. (That's why it's important to be present for those times nature needs an assist.) Otherwise, the Vet said she would not have made it. As it was, the filly survived and nursed on her own in 40 minutes. Deb has named this one Inamorata .... 'my little love'.

5/12/2000 Immerstar, a big but very beautiful filly was born at the Ultimate Piaffe to Proxy our 17.1 h Chestnut Hanoverian bred mare who has in her bloodlines LFR, Walk On Top, Western Star, Welcome and Weyden. Proxy's first foal,  Immerwyn scored a very rare 9.0 for movement at his foal evaluation. Will lighting strike again? Come to the evaluation this summer and find out. Immerstar has been sold to Britta Barngrover of Arizona. Contact Carol Ives Sport Horse Marketing 503 638 4839 or email iveco@teleport.com

5/25/2000 Dr. Suzanne Higgins Phoenix, Arizona Veterinarian,  announces her second IDEAL foal. It's another colt out Tsunami her Anglo-Trakehner by Insterruf out of Chrissy by Joe Iz. Here at the farm, Darrel took the call and was excited because the colt was born on his birthday. Does that mean Darrel gets a hand in naming the foal?

5/23/2000 It's a filly for Carl and Sue Ann Bebrich Lockport, Illinois. The mare is an ISR Main Mare Shasks Symphony. The ISR Main Mare Book mare is  by Ibn Shask out of El Hyso by Spring Basko. Carl left word on our answering machine saying the foal is long legged and gorgeous. Here is the filly at two weeks old. By the way, the Bebrich's report their mare is in foal to Ideal for 2001 despite one of the few failures we have had with Federal Express. Somehow Carl convinced the Chicago Fed Ex supervisor  to meet him at 2:00 am so the mare could be inseminated despite having already ovulated. Carl must be some talker!

5/23/2000 Donna and Rick Longacre of Longview, Washington announce a filly out of Mistral a chestnut Canadian Warmblood mare.

5/24/2000 Dateline Dunvegan Farms at Amity, Oregon. Just before midnight, a colt named In For A Pound, arrived. Chris McClure says this guy (barn name Ezzra) tries to be friendly but his mom won't allow it. The mare is Petite Four by Prinz Gaylord out of Handy Hooker by Buck's Club. According to Chris In For a Pound is looks like his sister Ideal's Prinzcess the only foal in 1998 to receive a NINE in movement. (Her record remained unmatched in 1999.) Of course, Prinzcess is also by Ideal.

5/27/2000 Susan Sheen checks in from Salem, Wisconsin to tell us, "It's a chestnut filly with one white sock and a sprig of a star, I think I'll name Incado." Incado is out of a a pink papered Westphalian mare by Romiro by Romadour II. (Yes, she really does have a tail, it was just swished to the side when the camera caught her.) This little girl is available at $10,000.

6/12/2000 Kris Kalstrom from Danville, California  reports her third Ideal foal.  This one is a BIG solid black colt out of Greta a black Facteur Selle Francais mare by Granith (Hanoverian) out of  Irosa. He is about 2 weeks old in the picture- his first day out in his paddock. His mom, Greta, has produced an "elite" and an "excellent" Selle Francais foal, as well as Kanani, her dutch mare who was top Adult Amateur Dutch horse at Training
level in 1998 and Top USDF National Vintage Cup horse as well. Kris has named this one Manoa after the valley she grew up in on Oahu. Kris also reports that her Ideal filly out of her Galoubet daughter has been sold to a talented junior rider who has high hopes to begin her eventing career in September so she can be ready for Preliminary level by the end of 2001. The filly had been in training as a hunter jumper, but when trainer Sarah Vernlund saw her she insisted her future was as an eventer. Which direction will Manoa go? Stay tuned a few years from now.

It's a chestnut filly out of Calamity Claire an Appendix Quarterhorse (TBxQH) by Page TB out of Sweetie Swift AQHA by Roan Pleasure AQHA.  Marceles was away from the farm for about an hour during the day. When she returned she saw an extra set of long legs running about in the round pen. (Why are ours always in the wee hours?)

6/17/2000 Embryo Transfer yields first of two Idea foals for Karyn Albrecht of Beau Cheval Farms Beavercreek, Oregon. In fact, the donor mare was busy winning classes at a show the weekend at Hood River Classic while the recipient mare, Cassie, delivered the cold Idle Money BCF. (Shown on the left.) Actually, Karen's thoroughbred show mare "Show Me The Money",  produced two viable embryos from one breeding to Ideal, so another foal is expected any day. The embryo flush was done by Dr. Lisa Metcalf and the embryos were sent to Colorado State University to be implanted in the recipient mares.

6/20/2000 INDIA has a sister! ITALIEN  (barn name Gucci)  arrived at the Ultimate Piaffe as big and bold as her sibling. The mare is Delightful known as Westerdam at the Ultimate Piaffe. (You know that thing we have for naming mares after Holland America Cruise Lines.) Westy's  pedigree reads like the Who's Who of the International jumping ring.  Through her grandsire Alme ZDelightful is related to Galoubet, I Love You, Hidden Creek's Alvaretto, Crown Royal Albonnie, Ahorn, Jalisco B and Alcatraz.  Delightful's sire, born Zephyr and shown under the name McArthur, is himself a very successful Grand Prix Jumper.  Dressage enthusiasts in North America will recognize Delightful's dam's sire, Patrick as an outstanding producer of AHSA/USDF Dressage winners including the FEI Level gelding, Keys. Before we purchased Delightful, she had produced several NWSHA Champions.  When we presented the 17.2 h grey mare to the ISR/Oldenburg N.A. jury she was awarded Premium Status (one of only 21 mares in 1998) for her excellent conformation and her swing and elasticity in her trot.  Her first foal by Ideal, India,  is quite possibly one of the best foals we have ever bred.  India received an 8.5 for her conformation and type, 8.0 for her lovely movement and 8.5 for overall impression with a total score of 8.5. Italien has been sold.

6/20/2000 It's a colt for Jennifer Olarra out of Lady With Honors, her 1987 bay Thoroughbred Mare which is by Truck Drivin" Man. Jennifer, from Corvalis, Oregon, says he is chocolate brown with a blaze and hind stockings. (Suspects he may gray.) His name in Imperial Presence and Jennifer say's it fits him. She also tells us her  1999 Ideal filly, "Ideal's Legacy" is available for purchase.

6/20/2000 Donna and Rick Longacre announce their second Ideal foal of the year. This one is a colt by the Canadian bay Warmbood mare Mexico. This makes FIVE Ideal offspring for Donna Longacre, who is a popular Northwest Trainer and an ASHA Judge. Donna has two Ideal 1999 fillies for sale and priced to sell. See horses for sale.

6/24/2000 It's Ilan BCF another colt via embryo transplant for Karen Albrecht out of her competition  mare Show Me The Money. The surrogate mare is Ruby. This fellow is mahogany bay like his genetic mom. A week earlier Karen had a colt by Ideal (technically) out of the same mare. See details above on 6/17/2000.

6/26/2000 Word comes from Archer, Florida of a filly for Carey Zukatis from out of Ashley her grey Holsteiner/Trakehner Mare by Hurrikhan out of Vermeil by Capitano. Carey says all went well, except it was a standing delivery. Here is Inci at two weeks.

6/26/2000 Janette Correia checks in to report the first of two IDEAL offspring expected this year has arrived at her place in Escondido, California. This one is a colt out of her black and brown  Oldenburg mare Raelyn by Grand Slam out of Becky's Dream. Congratulations.  This is Janette's second IDEAL, the other also being a colt.

6/27/2000 Royaltariat' s baby arrives. In 1997 Ideal and Secretariat shared the cover of Equus Magazine. Now, they meet again, symbolically, as Secretariat's grand daughter delivers another stunning Ideal colt. Dunvegan Farms leased Royal from the Ultimate Piaffe and we presided over the delivery of the foal which looks like a mahogany version of Intrepid  a full sibling who is now turning heads in the Seattle area. Chris McClure, owner of Dunvegan Farms has named the colt In For A Penny.

7/1/2000 Now make that three IDEAL offspring for Janette Correia of Escondido, California (see above 6/26/2000) This one is a filly out of Jackie's Valentine her thoroughbred grey mare by Riborande out of Misty Royal by Sir Gaylord.

7/15/2000 Michelle Freeman checks in from Centralia, Missouri to tell us that Jarrah (by Memphis (Trak) out of Jet America (TB) foaled a gorgeous little filly by IDEAL. Michelle says the filly is bay with one hind sock and one hind coronet sock, a heart shaped star and a snip. But, suspects she might grey.

7/17/2000 Aloha from Kapaa, Hawaii! Susan Broglie say's it's a girl named "Umbra" (phase the moon enters before in eclipse) Susan says Umbra shown here at just 27 hours old, arrived at 0140 after two days of no sleep and labor. Both doing well. Susan has an Arabian mare named Bey Orobics by Nishek Arabians out of Megan Bey by Bay Oro.(Ideal is lifetime approved by the IAHA.) That's a saucy looking filly.

7/25/2000 Jennifer Hallman of Clinton Township, Michigan reports that her Trakenner Mare Florentiniscn had a filly by Ideal. The mare is by Amigo out of Jawacolah xx by Peter Parent xx. Jennifer says her filly was born at 9:30 in the morning in front of 6 little kids. She said, "My son decided it was the grossest thing he had ever seen (he is 9)". She is a very brown chestnut -- like a dark cherry wood -- but my bet is she will shed her baby fuzz and be grey. Her muzzle and legs are very grey. She has about 10 white hairs in the middle of her forehead, and two white bands on both hind feet. She is VERY large, and very very feminine I have been waiting for a girl!

Babe's Baby Is Here!

7/29/2000 She made us wait 24 days beyond her due date, but Babe's baby, Innocence finally arrived. (Shown at 12 hours on the left.) It's a filly with four white socks and a big blaze. Babe is our Belgium draft horse who has produced two exceptional dressage horses with Ideal. Illusion continues to rack up Blue Ribbons up at North West dressage shows. We have seen video of Ingrid, his sister schooling piaffe and passage, but Ingrid's owner will not give us permission to include Ingrid in Ideal's marketing video or use pictures taken after she purchased her. (Fortunately for us, no other buyers have such restrictions.) Babe's baby got her name when Dr. Jone Sampson, a Baby Doctor and one of Darrel's dressage students, took one look at her and cried .... "what innocence". Her barn name is Inchalada. (We think Val Zeek was hungry when she assisted Michelle and Darrel with the birthing.

By the way,  Innocence is available for purchase by someone (hopefully) who will be willing to share pictures of her progress. (On the right here she is at two days.)
